Having finished last year in 10th place (to that time the worst defense of a championship season) Chelsea finds itself in 8th place after 6 game having lost to Arsenal and Liverpool and then… WHAT HAPPENED?
Antonio Conte’s Chelsea’s new manager in his first season in the English Premiership goes to confession and told to go to the Royal Casino in London where he was immediately dealt 4 aces and on his way to his biggest win: Taking Chelsea to win the Premiership with 2 matches to go and leave all the Great English Clubs (including a big push by Totenham) in the dust.
The recruitment of N’golo Kante turned out to be a brilliant move with Kante earning player of the year honors and without the Messi, Ronaldo, Hazard, Costa hoopla made incredible contributions in mid field with repossession, tireless work rate and unbelievable anticipation and football smarts.
Conte then decided to go to what has worked for him at Juventus his favorite 3-4-3 formation that has not been seen or used in the Premiership. He also extracted Hazard out of a slump by giving him a license to roam around the field and make things happen. The result: 13 straight wins and a runaway top of the table position.
The fourth Ace was that of a combination of luck and focus. Luck from the point that no starter was injured for any length of time allowing Conte to put his best 11 on the pitch week after week. And what appeared to be a disappointment (an early exit from European UCL) turned into a blessing by allowing Chelsea to focus on the premiership and the FA Cup only.
There is a good chance that anytime you are dealt 4 Aces you’re going to win the hand. It is almost unbeatable!
